As I’m writing this our friends The Tubs (from Ghent, Belgium) are inline skating over in Santa Monica, far from the eastside offices of Gnar. They flew in last week on the 10th, Izak’s birthday, and so far have played 3 shows in southern California; one over here up at GNARBURGER, one over in Echo Park at the little Lot 1 spot, and a set at the Burger Records X Observatory 5 Year Anniversary. They’ve had the last few days off, sightseeing in the great desert oasis metropolis of Los Angeles. They went to the Sunset Strip and Guitar Center, the Hustler store, and some other places you might expect some Belgian rockers to go on their first visit to the USA and LA ever. Except Simon; he and his dad have been to the US. I ran into them at a festival in Portland a few years ago, after we did The Tubs’ first Gnar Tape ‘Birds Don’t Sink’ at the old Gnarnia (RIP).

Tomorrow they’re playing down in the surf/skate wasteland of Costa Mesa, down in the right-wing stronghold of Orange County. The Memories and Colleen Green are playing too, so we’ll be there. We’re booking a few more shows but confirmed dates for The Tubs first ever US tour on the West Coast are below:
